Just Mark & his 12-string, singing a couple of verses of the classic Latin hymn, "Stabat Mater Dolorosa", ascribed to Jacopone da Todi, written in the 13th century. It concerns the deep sorrow of the Blessed Mother at the Cross, capping our meditations on this during this month.
Stabat Mater dolorosa, iuxta crucem lacrimosa, dum pendebat Filius
Cuius animam gementem, contristatem et dolentem, pertransivit gladius
At the Cross, her station keeping, stood the mournful Mother weeping, close to Jesus to the last
Through her heart, his sorrow sharing, all his bitter anguish bearing, now at length the sword has passed.
And now, here is a version that repeats the verses, but gives an English poetic translation in the video!
